Module 10 - Video review

African Art:

1. Explain why you chose this video: I know I say  I choose videos because they are things that I am very fond of and that is because I am kind of interested in everything that has to do with art, especially in different cultures. I enjoy African Art and the different clothing and rituals that they have.

2. Key concepts learned: I learned that Art is a symbol of authority and that African art was unknown to Europeans until the 19th century. I also learned that they find expression in dress, hairstyles, etc.

3. Related to text: The video and the text relate because they both teach us ways that African Art expanded our minds and and helped us to create work based upon our imagination rather than baout what we see. They both also tell us how dramatized African American Art can be sometimes.

4. Opinion on film?: I find African Art to be very unique because it is made up of things that come from their imagination. I like how they talk about the different types of Art from various African cultures rather than focusing on just one. I find it crazy how African art can be seen as primitive or childlike, I don't agree with that at all.

Buddhism:

1. Explain why you chose this video: Again, Buddhism is something that I am very fond of learning about. The whole practice of Buddhism really resonates with me much more than any other religious practice so I am curious to see what the video entails.

2. Key concepts learned: I learned that when you are a Buddhist, you are in the world but not of it. I also learned that Sanchi is the center of Buddhist art and architecture.

3. Related to text: The text and video are similar in ways that they both talk about how big of an impact Buddha was and how the Stupa is a symbolic place. Both really taught me more in depth of what it's like to be a Buddhist.

4. Opinion on film?: The film was pretty good, I liked learning about the Sanchi and the Great Stupa and the largest shrine, Java. It was good to learn some things that I didn't learn.
