Prairie style:
1) Key concepts learned: I never looked at buildings having the ability to naturally blend into their surroundings. I learned that in 1980, Frank Lloyd Wright built single family houses that reflected a specific time and place in a series of horizontal bands, layered. I found that pretty interesting considering the fact that i know little about Architecture.
2) Related to text: They both go in depth about the way buildings are built and what feelings a home, school or any other building should include.
3) Opinion on film: I enjoyed the fact that some artists looked at homes as more than just a place. They looked at how to make it comfortable, how to give it a specific feeling that the consumer or home owner could resonate with. I never would have looked at a building in that aspect. I also really enjoyed how the video was straight forward and to the point.
4) Why did you choose this film?: I chose this film because the title intrigued me, i was just solely focused on learning what Prairie style even was.
Frank Genry: Architecture as art:
1) Key concepts learned: To be honest, I don't think the video really taught me anything.
2) Related to text: Surprisingly, the video doesn't really correspond with the text either besides the fact that Architecture can grow and evolve over time.
3) Opinion on film: To be honest, i really did not enjoy the film. The multiple narrations make it very difficult to focus and understand what really is the main focus of the video. So far, this video really is not a favorite of mine besides the fact that Frank thought that buildings needed to have a way of interacting with the individuals in it.
4)Why did you choose this film?: I chose this film because I thought it could teach me something about how Art is similar to Architecture or how they both can come to be one but in reality, i didn't get that. Maybe it's just me, i can't be quite sure.
